What we do at Florates
Florates’ diagnostic system uses assays and biomarkers to provide clear, actionable insights into gut damage and productivity. By integrating advanced analytics, real-time data, and the latest microbiome science, we empower livestock farmers and feed advisors to enhance animal health and optimize performance.
What we do
Florates brings advanced R&D sequencing and routine pathogen diagnostics together, bridging innovation and on-farm application.

With advanced assays and targeted biomarkers, Florates provides clear gut health data within 24 hours close to the operation.

Our data empowers farmers and advisors to improve current flocks and planning ahead for better animal welfare and performance.
Florates helps farmers and feed advisors investigate problems, compare performance, predict outcomes, and intervene, based on real-time, science-based insights. This enables smarter, faster decision making on the farm.
A balanced and healthy gut plays a crucial role in animal health and performance. It improves digestion, enhances nutrient absorption, strengthens the immune system, and reduces the risk of disease. Maintaining gut health is crucial for the overall well-being and productivity of animals, and is an important aspect of animal care and management.
Florates Diagnostic System
Florates analyses three critical factors: Productivity, Gut Damage and Microbial balance. Using a simple cloacal or rectal swab, our system analyses two assays, one for productivity and one for gut damage, based on five specific biomarkers. These biomarkers are translated into clear ratios that provide detailed and actionable insights, enabling early detection of gut health challenges before clinical symptoms appear.

Productivity markers predict performance. Key ratios of butyrate and lactate provide direct insight into gut efficiency and resistance. They help optimize feed conversion, support immunity, and reduce inflammation.

The Gut Damage Ratio reveals early signs of compromised gut structure. It offers a precise, quantitative view of villus atrophy and barrier integrity, before symptoms appear.

The Microbial Balance Index signals imbalances in gut flora and microbial contamination. An elevated ratio of Enterobacteriaceae DNA to total bacterial DNA is a signature indicator of feed intake overflow into the small intestine.
