Florates presents new gut health insights at ICPIH 2026
This week, Joost Thijssen is presenting our latest research at the International Conference on Poultry Intestinal Health (ICPIH).
In collaboration with Orffa, we developed a non-invasive, functional qPCR-based approach to assess gut health under field conditions. Instead of focusing solely on microbiome composition, this method uses biological markers to provide insights into gut integrity and functional microbial capacity.
Our findings show that gut integrity, defined as the balance between intestinal damage and lining turnover, is the main driver of variation between broiler flocks at day 21.
This enables:
- Early detection of subclinical gut health challenges
- Functional insights beyond traditional microbiome profiling
- More targeted, data-driven interventions
